The Jamaican Table Tennis team to Guyana for the 13th Annual Junior Caribbean Table Tennis Championships did the country proud as they gained gold and bronze medals at the championships. The meet saw the Jamaicans competing with the best from the Caribbean and the Jamaicans showed that they deserved to be at the championships.
The four time national senior champion, 14 year old Yvonne Foster, led the Jamaican Under 15 girls team to gold, undefeated. The team destroyed Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago 3-1; totally blanked Curacao 3-0 and embarrassed St. Kitts and Nevis 3-0 to gain the title. The Jamaica Under 15 girls team consisted of Yvonne Foster, Tracy Ann Dattadeen and Perina Bogle.
The Boys Under 15 and Under 18 teams both gained bronze medals in their matches. The under 15 boys consisted of Glen-Ross McDonald, Jamie Allen and Jermaine James who was undefeated throughout the championships.
The Under 15 boys defeated St. Kitts and Curacao 3-0 but lost to Trinidad and Tobago 2-3. The Under 18 boys destroyed the Barbados 3-0 and were able to defeat the team from Curacao 3-2 but they lost to Trinidad and Tobago 1-3, and to Guyana 2-3, ending their quest to the title. The Under 18 team comprised Michael Cai, Shayne Frost and Don Walker Petinaud.
