Not many people know but my first degree is actually in Hotel Management completed in the unforgettable paradise called Bahamas. While in Bahamas, I was very active in cricket at the university level, played football and volleyball and was made the President of the Students Council in my final year (1991-1992). I had a great time capped off by being awarded one of the first two First Class Honours in the Hotel Management programme since its inception.

Having been so successful in my exams and being a sportsman I saw the advertisement for Rhodes Scholar while in the Bahamas.  I applied immediately and was shortlisted for interview in December of that year. I was not selected and while I had at least 3 more opportunities to reapply I did not as I was intimidated.

On my return to Jamaica in 1992 I managed the then “Forever Cafe” on behalf of
FDR Resorts for 11 months.

I was then lured away to St Ann Development as Assistant Manager - Dunn’s River Falls and Park.  During my time in St. Ann I played cricket for the parish and was then elevated to Vice President of the St. Ann Cricket Association.

After serving my apprenticeship at Dunn’s River I was promoted to Manager and resigned in December 1994 to return to Kingston to pursue my education in a field that I felt I was more suited.  It was while at Dunn’s River Falls that I got reacquainted with my now wife Connie.

I was always fascinated with Information Technology and when I saw the Masters in Computer Based Management Information Systems being offered at University of the West Indies in 1995, I immediately jumped at it.  I graduated in 1998 after obtaining my degree.

In March 1995 I was offered a job as a Management Associate at one of the cutting edge financial service firms at the time - Dehring, Bunting & Golding Ltd.  I worked for a year during which time I was promoted to Assistant Manager and transferred to the treasury.

Being back in Kingston I went back to my Kensington but did not take part in any more competitive cricket.  I became the manager of the Senior Cup team that proved successful on a number of occasions including the inaugural County Championships in 1997.

I went to work for Manufacturers Merchant Bank Limited as Manager, Treasury and Investments in March 1996.  This is where my finance career took off.  I was able to be a part of a team that grew assets from just over $500million to over $20billion when I eventually resigned in 2003 as Vice President - Treasury & Asset Management.

I became President of Kensington Cricket club in 1999 and a Asst Treasurer of the Jamaica Cricket Association in 2001 and its Treasurer from 2002 until when I demitted office in 2008 to run as Vice President.

I was elected to the Board of Directors of West Indies Cricket Board Inc from May 2002 until August 2007 when I was elevated to the position of Vice President.

Throughout my entire life I have always been involved with sports.  I represented Jamaica at the World Shoot in South Africa in 2002.  After that I concentrated on squash a bit and then I started playing golf in 2005. I am quite health conscious.

I believe with the help of God that all my dreams and aspirations for myself and family will come through and therefore I place a lot of trust in the supreme being.
