Due to back problems and reduced swing speed I have been struggling with my iron play for a while. Even though I have been fitted, I have gone through my share of new iron sets. Recently I ordered a set of Titleist AP1 712 Irons 4-GW with the Aldila 75 gram graphite shafts in regular. The first time out I broke my personal low score recored of 76 by coming in one under par at 71, and followed that up today with a 74. For me these are smooth feeling dart shooters with more than enough forgiveness built in. These irons are the most accurate I have ever played with, and for the first two rounds go exactly where I point them.Ping G20 Irons In my eyes, the titleist ap1 is just my lucky star and comes to help me with my golf. Great sticks highly recommended for the mid handicapper.

In the first place, building upon the high technology design and resounding success of the original AP irons, they are designed for avid golfers.Taylormade Rocketballz RBZ Irons The concept for the original Advanced Performance irons arose as a result of research that indicated serious golfers want performance with great feel, not performance at the expense of feel. The Titleist R&D;team’s advanced research group has been conducting extensive sound and vibration analysis aimed at reducing the harsh lower frequency vibration that causes poor feel in irons. This research led to combining several technologies and materials in the back cavity of the new ap1 resulting in a new Tuned Feel System to take feel to a new level. Beyond that, the new Tuned Feel System is a co-molded medallion of soft elastomer and aluminum plate.Callaway Diablo Edge Irons This insert has been specifically designed to improve the sound and feel of each new iron. For the thinner face, larger cavity ap1 irons a hotter, more lively feel has been enhanced. Do you want to take them into your bags? Just make your wise decision.

England’s Ian Poulter shot a final-round 67 to win the Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Laguna 2 Putterin Melbourne on Sunday.
Poulter finished on 15 under at Victoria Golf Club, three shots clear of nearest rival, Australian Marcus Fraser, who impressed with a 64 on the day.
Overnight leader Geoff Ogilvy could not repeat his third-round 63 heroics and posted a 73 that saw him finish in third, a shot behind Fraser.
Peter Senior, the only players besides Poulter and Fraser to shoot four sub-par rounds this week, finished fourth at seven under alongside Adam Crawford (66), whuile Luke Donald closed with a 72 to finish his incredible season rather tamely down at four under.
Donald said he was a little disappointed by his Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Laguna 2 Putterperformance this week, but was still proud of what had been “an amazing year”.
Poulter, winless since the Volvo World Matchplay Championship back in May, was clearly delighted with the triumph and took to Twitter immediately after putting for par at the 18th: “Winner winner chicken dinner ... what a way to finish the year.”
With the win, Poulter has moved from 28 in the world back into the top 20.
“For me it was a pure ball-striking round of golf,” Poulter said.
“(My concentration) was flawless the whole day. I was happy how I approached every shot. (Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Laguna 2 Putter)
“I hit my targets, it was fairly methodical, but for me it was a nice round of golf.”
Poulter signalled his intent early on with an eagle at the short par-four first hole that brought him level with leader Ogilvy right at the start of the day’s play.
The next few holes required several par saves, until the long seventh where he took the lead with another birdie after a superb approach shot.
Poulter held his nerve, and held on to the lead, on the back nine, as Ogilvy failed to convert the chances he created for himself.
Whereas putts were dropping all over the place on Saturday, his Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Laguna 2 Putter deserted him today, and after 12 straight pars he dropped shots at 13 and 15 that effectively ended the contest.
“Ian played Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Laguna 2 Puttervery well and I didn’t,” said Ogilvy.
“I couldn’t make a birdie all day.
“I am disappointed, but what are you going to do?”
Fraser, meanwhile, was delighted with his second place finish.
“Anything is possible, but you have got Ian Poulter and Geoff Ogilvy up there in front of you and those guys are too good to mess it up,” Fraser said.
“I hit a lot of good shots this week and I am very happy with how I played Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Laguna 2 Putter.
“It would have been nice to hole a few extra putts at the start of the week, but I got my fair share today.”

Runaway leader Lee Westwood of England saw his overnight 11-shot lead slashed to four by Masters champion Charl Schwartzel after the third round of the inaugural Thailand Ping G20 DriverChampionship on Saturday.
World number three Westwood, who opened with a stunning career low 12-under-par 60 and followed up with a 64, carded a disappointing one-over-par 73 in the US$1 million Asian Tour season-ending tournament while Schwartzel produced a solid 66, despite a bogey on the last.
Michael Thompson of the United States was third, seven shots behind the leader, after a 69 at the Amata Spring Country Club while Guido Van Der Valk of the Netherlands, lying 83rd on the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit, gave himself every chance of earning a full 2012 card with a 66 which propelled him to fourth place.
Westwood, who equaled the Asian Tour’s 36-hole record of 20-under-par 124 on Friday, dropped his first bogey of the day at the par five second hole following a wayward drive into the hazard and turned in 37 with Ping G20 Driver.
He seemed to have steadied the ship with birdies on 11 and 15 but carelessly missed a short par putt on 16 and then dropped his fourth bogey after finding the greenside trap at the signature island green par three 17th hole.
Still, the 38-year-old Englishman was confident of securing his Ping G20 Driver title of the season, and second in three weeks despite seeing Schwartzel chip away at his overnight big lead. “(I had) a few bad breaks ... if you had offered me a four-shot lead on Thursday morning I would have taken it,” said Westwood, who holds a three-day total of 19-under-par 197.
“After a 60 and 64, you’re probably going to be disappointed with the third round but like I said, a four-shot lead into the last round is a good position to be in. It drains you (to be leading) but it’s a better position to be leading obviously other than to chase.
“Today, Charl had the momentum and I was fighting against it. It’s not the easiest golf course here. I’ll just go out and focus on my own Ping G20 Driver and shoot another low score.”
Schwartzel achieved what he wanted to do with four straight birdies from the second hole. He got to seven under for the round with three more birdies on the back nine before dropping his lone bogey of the day at the demanding 18th hole.
The slender South African was happy he reeled Westwood in. “At least there’s light at the end of the tunnel now. Four shots is not much out there,” said the 27-year-old. “I’ve been playing Ping G20 Driver really well and I can shoot a low score on this golf course. I felt I should have shot a 63. I felt like I left putts out on 12, 13 and 14. Not a very good bogey on 18 but I feel like I can shoot low and that’s what I need.
Schwartzel believes he can carry the momentum into the final day and end what has been a magical season on a winning note at Westwood’s expense. “You can sense when the tides are turning. I’m making four birdies in a row and he is not getting anything at all. You can sense that all of a sudden it has changed. The lead is getting shorter and shorter and it has to affect you. You won’t be human if it doesn’t.”

Lee Westwood said he had sensed he was in trouble when his mother phoned him shortly after he had finished playing the final round of the Qatar Masters with Left Handed Ping G20 Ironson Sunday.
He had been caught swearing on television after hitting his driver off the 16th tee and the first person to call him after he signed for the closing 3-under par 69 that put him in a tie for 12th place was his highly concerned mother.
“My mum was the first person on the phone, and she said, you might want to apologize,” said Westwood, who actually went on to birdie the 16th.
He said he had no idea that TV had captured what he had said, opining, “It’s amazing how sensitive these microphones are.”
And then he quickly turned to Twitter to help him make his apology widely known
“Sorry about swearing on the 16th tee. Came off like a rocket and thought it was going further! Wash my mouth out! Perils of live TV,” he tweeted.
Westwood, who is in the Emirates ahead of Thursday’s tee-off in the Dubai Desert Classic on the third and final leg of the Gulf swing, preferred not to comment when asked if he would care to repeat what he had said.
“There are worse words, actually,” was all he would say.
Westwood, currently No 3 in the World, is one of the strong favorites to win in Dubai this week, almost certainly because of his solid record at the Emirates Left Handed Ping G20 Irons Club. It includes a second-place finish two years ago in the Dubai Desert Classic.
But against the 38-year-old Englishman winning this week is his so-far sluggish entry into the 2012 season.
In his two previous starts in Abu Dhabi and Qatar he finished 17th and 12th respectively and never really looked like contending.
But it is not giving him sleepless nights.
An admitted slow starter, the Englishman rates his Left Handed Ping G20 Irons performance so far this season as “decent and good for me’’ when compared with previous years
“I’ve normally had a missed a cut by now, and thrown in a 60th-place finish or something like that,” Westwood told the media in Dubai on Tuesday.
“I’d say if I was making an appraisal of the first couple of weeks, I’ve hit it a lot better than I normally do. My Left Handed Ping G20 Irons game is a little bit sharper than normal. Putts are quite nice, starting to roll a few longer ones in.”
But Westwood admitted he has looked a bit rusty at times and that his short game could still do with more work. Certainly his 69 on Sunday was far from perfect, including as it did four bogeys.
“Just been sloppy, just early season sloppiness really, making too many bogeys and not making birdie when I should.
“Wedge shots haven’t been quite as sharp as they ought to have been, not as close. So that’s the reason I’ve been sort of in the position I’ve been in,” Westwood added.( Left Handed Ping G20 Irons)
This week, several other big guns will be in Dubai along with Westwood, including US Open champion Rory McIlroy, the World No 2, 4th-ranked Martin Kaymer and defending champion Alvaro Quiros, but so far it has not been the big guns doing the early damage on the tour.
Lesser mortals in the light artillery have been stealing most of the thunder, as little-known Brandon Grace, a 23-year-old South African, did by winning two of the first three tournaments of the season before 117th-ranked Robert Rock did in Abu Dhabi when he beat Tiger Woods in a head-to-head battle in the final round.
And that was before blast from the past Paul Lawrie, the 1999 Open Champion whose ranking had slipped to 272 a year ago, stepped up at Doha Left Handed Ping G20 Irons Club and won the Qatar Masters to charge back into that all-important Top 50 bubble
“Robert has always looked a good player. It’s just a case of knuckling down and putting your mind to it. He’s obviously got a very good game and he seems like the kind of player that, once he gets the knack of winning, will win quite a bit, especially as he seems pretty fearless playing Left Handed Ping G20 Irons in the kind of company that he did in Abu Dhabi.”

World No 1 Yani Tseng believes she is better prepared with TaylorMade Ghost TM-110 Tour Putter than she has ever been for her opening stab this year at an LPGA Tour title.
And this especially so as the Tour’s opening event of the year, the Women’s Australian Open, is being played at the country’s famed sand belt course at Royal Melbourne in what will be the first time a women’s professional tournament has ever been staged there.
Until now, Royal Melbourne, which hosted last year’s Presidents Cup won by the United States, has been strictly reserved for elite, mens events, so the field teeing off there on Thursday will contain very few contestants, if any, with first-hand competitive experience of it’s shortish, but tough and unforgiving layout.
Fully aware of this important factor, Tseng, who opened her season in 2011 with a victory in this very tournament and then went on to win 12 tournaments in all around the world, two of them majors and seven LPGA Tour events, carefully studied video clips of the Presidents Cup before going out and playing nine holes at Royal Melbourne on Monday, both to familiarize herself with the course and to launch her new easier, but more powerful TaylorMade Ghost TM-110 Tour Putter swing which she has been perfecting during the off-season
On the video clips she studied, the 23-year-old Taiwanese icon told Australian Associated Press on Tuesday:."I watched many holes and I learned a lot from the TV. I know, for instance, which places you better not go and the strategy to play with TaylorMade Ghost TM-110 Tour Putter. It worked out pretty well.
“We are going to need a lot of imagination to play on this course.”
“It was pretty tough,” Tseng added when talking about her practice round.
“The greens were fast, but I am very excited and I can’t wait to go out and have fun. We have a good field this week and a great golf course.
“The course is not long, but you need to be very focused on every shot. If you just miss-focus on one shot, you can get in to big trouble. This week Royal Melbourne will be like a major course. You’ll need to be smart, patient and focussed on every shot.”
Six of the top 10 on the Women’s World Rankings list are competing at Royal Melbourne, the tournament having been added to an expanded LPGA schedule after increasing it’s prize money to $1.1 million.( TaylorMade Ghost TM-110 Tour Putter)
Along with Tseng in the 156-strong field, other Tour big guns playing this week include World No 2 Suzann Pettersen of Norway, World No 4 Cristie Kerr of the US, South Korean Jiyai Shin, the World No 7, and Americans Stacy Lewis, the World No 9, and Brittany Lincicome, the World No 10.
Also in the field is Australian star Karrie Webb, who is seeking her fifth Australian Women’s Open title.
But they are all likely to be chasing Tseng, the defending champion, who, not for nothing has twice walked off with LPGA Player of the Year awards in each of the last two years.
“I always seem to have a g TaylorMade Ghost TM-110 Tour Putter
ll get away to another good start with TaylorMade Ghost TM-110 Tour Putterthis year.
“Last year is over. I have been working real hard in the off season to change my swing a bit, to make it more consistent, and I think I am ready for this year, said Tseng who, in a bid to add to the five major titles she has already collected, has been working at increasing her physical strength and modifying her swing.
“I have tried to get physically stronger, so my swing can match my physique,” explained Tseng who already last year was one of women golf’s longest hitters
“I have more power now, but I don’t swing as hard as before; I feel I am swinging easier and striking the ball better.
“Now I feel that if I swing 70-80 percent, the ball is still flying better than before. I always tried to swing really hard. Now I don’t swing so hard, but the ball still goes that far. I am very happy about that; that I can still rip it.”

This year Bayron faces a bunch of the Asian Tour champions in a field containing players from no fewer than 25 different nations.
They include last week’s Asian Tour winner Kieran Pratt of Australia, Japan’s Tetsuji Hiratsuka, who was ranked second on the Order of Merit last season, Thailand’s Thaworn Wiratchant and former Philippine Open champions Angelo Que, Elmer Salvador, Gerald Rosales, Artemio Murakami and Frankie Minoza.
“I would really like to win the ICTSI Philippine Open this year,” said Bayron said on Tuesday.
“I’ll do everything to try to replicate and do bettter tna what I did last year when I finished one stroke short of the winner.
“You’ll need to play with your Titleist 712 AP2 Irons on the East course this week as the conditions are harder this year. If I ever win the Philippine Open, I’ll concentrate more on the Asian Tour especially now that I have full playing Titleist 712 AP2 Irons.
Bayron recalled his stunning eagle at the par four second hole during last year’s final round which saw him take the lead in front of large galleries before being narrowly overhauled at the tape by Henson, who made a gutsy par save on the very last hole to claim his narrow one-shot victory.
“I remember my eagle from 115 yards I hit a pitching wedge. But the golf course is very hard and difficult this year and the rough is high. It’ll be a stern test,” said Bayron, who earned his Asian Tour card with a top-40 finish at the Qualifying School in Thailand last month.
Talented 17-year-old Miguel Tabuena aims to erase last year’s painful memories of missing the cut in his first appearance in the Open as a professional.( Titleist 712 AP2 Irons)
After a challenging rookie season on the Asian Tour where he missed out on retaining his Tour card by a mere US$250, the Filipino is determined to shine in front of his home fans.
“I always dream about winning our Open. A Filipino should, more than anything, try to win his home championship,” said Tabuena, the youngest member of the Asian Tour.
“It’s special if you can win it as a lot of people will recognize you. Hopefully I’ll be the champion.”
Coached by Manila-based Canadian Rick Gibson, who won the Philippine Open in 2002, Tabuena said he has put in extra work on his short game in preparation for his title chase this week.
“Working with Rick, I now know what it takes to be a tournament champion. He has given me a slogan that I will always remember. It says to ‘play your Titleist 712 AP2 Irons best and accept the rest’.
I took a lot out of last year. The players have told me to work hard and it really pays off in the long run. I won’t give up,” said the teenager.
Still on a high after winning the season-opening Zaykabar Myanmar Open, Pratt, in the meantime, plans to ride on his rich vein of form and hopes to again contend this week at Wack Wack where he missed the cut last year.
“Certainly winning breeds confidence. I’m looking forward to going out there and seeing what I can do,” said Pratt.
“Your goal is the same; it is to win the golf tournament in which you are playing. I’m looking forward to playing Titleist 712 AP2 Ironsin the bigger events and re-planning my schedule which will be perhaps more lucrative than the one I had planned before I played Myanmar.
Dutchman Guido Van Der Valk, who secured his Asian Tour card at the final tournament last year with a tied sixth finish, also hopes to start his 2012 campaign off on a solid footing.
“Last year was great for me,” he said. “I was no where (on the Order of Merit) and I got my card through playing at Amata Spring. The course is in such good condition. It’s a joy to play with Titleist 712 AP2 Irons. The greens are pure and it’s always a good challenge to beat Wack Wack as it’s such a tough track. I’m really looking forward to it.
