According to Atay and Kurt (2007),[1] there are effects on adopting peer feedback in class. First, it provides diversity with teaching compared with the traditional way of giving teacher feedback. In peer feedback session, students do not just listen to teacher’ instructions, but work with their peers to do more practices in writing. In this case, students’ anxiety becomes lower and learning motivation can be higher.

The Reserve Officer Training Core is a program designed to instill the sense of community service into students. The program also encourages students to gain a greater respect for our country and flag. Many students from the program go on to serve in the various branches of the military.

For Flag Day 2010, Cadet Alex Rogers of Riverside High wanted to present every classroom and a local organization with a new American flag. The Durham Rescue Mission was chosen as the ROTC’s local non-profit organization.
