Tanya Stephens birth name Vivienne Stephenson was born on the 2nd July 1973. Tanya blasted on the music scene with her 1996 “Yuh Nuh Ready Fi Dis Yet” which was then spotlighted on the Reggae Gold 1997 compilation. She soon summoned interest in her craft and the world was buzzing about this electrifying artist.
Tanya did not miss a beat and quickly delivered the singles that followed; “Draw fi Mi Finger”, “Freaky Type” and the ever popular “Cry and Brawl”. Unstoppable Tanya then in 1997 released Too Hype and following Ruff Rider a year later. Stephens then switched the script on us all and began to record a series of alternative rock tracks in Sweden where she then moved to.
Her new direction in her career proved to be unsatisfying and she soon had to return to her roots of reggae and gangsta blues. In 2004 she enthusiastically released her hit single “Boom Wuk” and in 2006 Rebelution appeared on the scene with a female empowerment theme and flavor and now most recently her chart topping single “These Streets”.
This hard working young lady is certainly appreciated for returning to her genre which she excels the best at; reggae/dancehall music.
